Wedding Favor Favorites

In some ways, the now-established tradition of giving favors to those who attend your nuptials is quite strange. After all, you just bought your bridesmaids, groomsmen and all your guests dinner and drinks. You provided entertainment and sought to ensure they were happy and comfortable… and now you give them a gift at the end of the night? Nice!

Of course, it’s all a part of the day. We all want to send our guests off home with a smile on their face and, most importantly, a memento of the day. We open up our marriages to share them with others; it’s no surprise we want that memory to last in the form of favors.

When it comes to choosing the favors for your own wedding, you have several options. As ever, some of the decision-making process comes down to budget – but we’re not going to tangle with that. Instead, let’s examine the concepts behind the areas you can source your favors from. That way, regardless of your budget, you can find a concept that suits you and spend whatever you see fit within the confines of it.

Concept One: Traditional

Traditional wedding favors with be sugared almonds or foil-wrapped chocolate. Something small and delicate that can sit prettily on the table during the meal then subsequently dropped into a handbag as guests leave. It’s the perfect option if you’re otherwise sticking with tradition.

Concept Two: Comedic

Not all weddings have to be serious and focused on true love and nothing but. If you’re a couple with a sense of humor, then it makes sense to incorporate that into your favors. Silly posed photos in frames, novelty gadgets, and custom bobbleheads all give a sense of whimsy to your favors while still achieving their main goal.

Concept Three: Cheerfully Inexpensive

Note ‘inexpensive’ rather than ‘cheap.’ Disposable items make for great wedding favors, such as paper fans or small bags of nostalgic candy. You can keep it simple and still make an impact. You’re trying to make people smile, not provide them with a favor worthy of being an heirloom they pass through the family for years to come!

Concept Four: Digital

Our lives are lived online in the 21st century, so why not harness that for your favors? You can still provide guests with a physical piece of card, on which you can print a QR code. When scanned, this could link to a website where you plan to post pictures and memories of the wedding day itself. You could also link to a specific playlist that you’ve set up of songs that were going to be at the wedding or a YouTube dedicated channel for people to upload their own footage. It might not be a favor in the conventional sense, but it will keep the excitement going even as you head off on honeymoon.

Concept Five: Personalized

If you have a small guest list, then it might be viable for you to look to personalize gifts. Wine bottles, magnets, and pens are common choices – all embossed with the names of the guests and perhaps your wedding date. At least they won’t have an excuse for forgetting your anniversary, anyway!

Imaginative Ways To Let Your Personalities Shine Through On Your Big Day

Your wedding will be the happiest day of your life to date, but planning isn’t always that fun. Weeks or months worth of hard work, all culminating in one day can be particularly high pressure. And it can feel like everything’s been done before. However much you strive for originality in your day, someone’s always got there first. But don’t give up – there are plenty of ways to inject a bit of your own personalities into your big day, even if it’s all been done before.

Get your pets involved

Nobody else has pets like yours, so even if everyone in the world had their dog walk them down the aisle, or their pet pig as their ring bearer, it wouldn’t be the same every time. Animals bring their own fun (and risks) to the wedding day, but you won’t find another flower girl like it.

Arrive in style

Don’t opt for the traditional limo entry if you don’t think it’s you – add your own flair. If you’re a bit of a biker chick, enter in a sidecar. Animal lovers could come in on horseback, romantics in a horse-drawn carriage, and the thrill seekers could have the ultimate show stopper and enter by parachute. Your wedding day is the time for expressing yourself, so let your personality and interests shine through in your choice of vehicle.

Ask for original gifts

As is customary, make sure you have a gift list made public for guests to follow. An interactive one is a bonus, so you’re not inundated with duplicate presents. But feel free to express your personality within your gift choices – Nighthelper.com has some great gift options to get your imagination going.

Offer a signature drink

Which soon-to-be-married couple wouldn’t enjoy an evening cocktail making with professionals? Trying to concoct the perfect recipe for your signature drink is the perfect pre-wedding fun to take your minds off the stress, but offering a bespoke cocktail at your wedding is a really cute treat too. Make sure the name, flavors, and presentation is fun, quirky, and romantic.

Offer child care

Many guests are stuck in the awkward position of having to leave early due to sleepy kids or to relieve babysitters at home. If you’re aware that you’re inviting a fair few parents, it can be a really thoughtful touch to hire a few qualified childminders to take care of people’s kids while they dance the night away, and the children get to have fun with the others too.

Always include a surprise

The best way to make your wedding memorable is to include a surprise of some kind. Whether it’s your pup as your flower girl or a choreographed dance routine to a surprise mariachi band as your first dance, people are certain never to forget it.

Weddings can be really formulaic, but other than the legalities, there’s no reason you can’t shake it up and follow whatever schedule you like, as long as the focus is always the love that you and your future spouse share.
