From the Couple:

There could not be a more beautiful day imagined, with 40 of our nearest and dearest traveling from Melbourne, Australia to share the most magical experience of our lives. It was simplicity meets grandeur combining our decoration with the villa and views. After 10 years Craig and I have shared together, with our love for family, friends, travel, and our engagement in Florence, this day encapsulated everything we ever wanted, needed or dreamed possible.

The original plan was to get married in our home town Melbourne, Australia with a guest list of 120 people. With the venue booked, and plans unfolding, my Grandmother sadly lost her battle to cancer 9 months prior to our wedding date. With heavy hearts, we continued with the preparations, never anticipating losing my Grandfather 3 months later.

With a giant void in my life, this great loss was enough for us to reassess what we truly believed our wedding should be. The decision was made to cut our losses and stay true to ourselves, to travel to a beautiful destination with our closest friends and family, and what place would be more meaningful than Florence.

On the day of my wedding, once I was dressed my mother handed me a ring my grandfather had given her, it was a pearl and topaz ring. This was my something old, borrowed and blue, along with a lace and pearl horse-shoe she had made for me for my something new. It was a perfect day.

Out and About in Austin: Bridal Portraits

Most brides only get to wear their wedding gown for one day so we love seeing a bride get to rock out her dress in an extra fun portrait session that is all about her! Cory Ryan Photography did an amazing job of capturing some fun filled moments and unique details for this beautiful and modern bride. Here at Hot Pink Brides, we can never resist a photograph that includes a vintage camera so as you can imagine, we couldn’t get enough of this session! If you are as in love with your dress as you should be, consider having a portrait session done after the wedding so that you can spend some extra time enjoying that amazing feeling!

Pinkie Pie Bride

Ok. So we were floored when we saw Lee-Ann’s hair. There is nothing we love more than pretty pony hair (we think she looks a bit like Pinkie Pie). They had a beautiful outdoor wedding with just a smidge of rain. Which I’m sure all of you know is good luck. Even cooler than Lee-Ann’s hair was the hawk that flew in their rings. That’s right a fuKA-KAWing HAWK flew in their rings during the ceremony. We’ll just let that sink in while you look at these amazing photos from Aeris Photography.

5 Rules to Know When Shopping for Your Wedding Dress

Here at Hot Pink Brides we live and breathe weddings especially bridal fashion! The perfect dress can set the tone for your wedding day so its no wonder that shopping for that amazing gown is a big deal to every bride. But often we see brides get overwhelmed and stressed during the shopping experience. We believe that these 5 rules can help make your shopping day, not only a success but a fabulous start to your wedding planning!

#5 Rule: Don’t Forget the Extras

When setting a budget for your wedding day wear don’t forget to leave room for any accessories added to your dress, alterations and a headpiece/veil if you choose to have one. All of these extras can add up and before you know it your budget of $3,000 is $5,000! So ladies budget accordingly!

#4 Rule: Limit your Entourage

Lets be honest girls, we love an audience when we shop for our gown! But having too many people at your appointment can leave you overwhelmed and without a dress. We understand that when choosing a dress you want opinions and thoughts but too many opinions can have you second guessing and confused on what you want. What you want to do is take those who are going to be honest but supportive of your vision for your day.

#3 Rule: Compliment your Venue

When choosing your gown be mindful of your venue. You don’t want to end up with a ball gown and a beach setting! In cases like these you may want to keep your mind open to all possibles and know that if you love ball gowns and dream of a beach setting you may have to compromise.

#2 Rule: Know your body type and matching silhouette

We all know that knowing your silhouette is extremely important when choosing your gown. If you are unsure of what will fit you the best this is the time to use your consultant to the fullest after all, they are the professionals! Although many brides look through endless magazines and tear pages of their favorite gowns they must keep in mind their body type and what is going to accent their best features.

#1 Rule: Stick to your Budget

Ladies, this is our pitfall! Being the fashionistas that we are, we want to have a gorgeous dress and will go to any lengths to get it. But we must be responsible fashionistas and know what is affordable for us. So when you meet your consultant let them know what you are comfortable spending, if not you are wasting not only your time but theirs. In many cases their is another person purchasing the gown and although that relieves us from a financial burden, we must respect their limits. Setting a budget will keep you from major debt and stress.
